alrighty then.
for lack of inspirational material within my own brain these days, i’m borrowing from my friend Audrey with this Q & A.
i’ve debated doing the simple woman’s daybook, but i’m a little tired of that for myself right now…don’t worry, i like to read those of you that post that style, it’s just that i think my own answers are rather redundant.
so, when Audrey posted this yesterday, i had a slight ‘aha!’ moment and opted to go down this path….
kind of interesting to stop and ask myself questions…and, i’m thinking i shall interview my husband later and see what he has to say about these questions for himself, and also my answers!

1. What time did you get up this morning?

7ish. i usually try to get up with my husband before he goes to work, but this day, i barely pulled my  carcass out of bed when Seth came into my room a few minutes after 7.

2. How do you like your steak?

truth be told, i’m not a big steak or red meat eater, but if i eat steak, i’ll take it well done.

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?

“Fireproof”. before this film was out, we were invited to a special pastors preview at the local cinema. my husband caught one of the “I love my marriage” t-shirts they threw into the crowd, and every time, every.time. he wears that shirt, he has opportunity to talk about either his marriage and or the film. kinda cool? i think so.

4. What is your favorite TV show?

we don’t have TV, but thanks to the library, we have gotten hooked on ‘Lost’.

5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

not sure….i have family across the country that i miss terribly, but, to live there is not like a big dream for me…years ago, i would have said Ontario, but now, with family hither and yon….i think my honest answer would have to be Nebraska. been there once and loved it…don’t know a soul there, but that’s kind of what i like about it…the adventure of newness, the chance to find our own way apart from any pre-attached stigmas.

23. Are you a morning or night person?
in another lifetime, i was a morning person. since kids? i still like to get up early and enjoy the quiet of the dawn, but i have become more of a night person too, because if Tim and i want time together, alone, it seems to have to be late at night after the kids are in bed.

43. What was your favorite vacation?

that’s a tough one….i love Craigslist, Ann Voskamp, Kelle Hampton, and of course my xanga pals…top place tho? after last weeks scoring 2 old doors, 4 paneled shutters, and an old chair all for FREE, i think i’ll go with Craigslist.

and, to close out this posting…a few pictures from the last few days…

just because.

the lone caterpillar we kept alive turned into this beauty.

k. i really am not bragging here, but i have been so happy and impressed with my daughter and her eagerness to learn! she doesn’t go to school until next year, but already at 4, she is eager to learn and practices diligently. after picking up this little dry erase booklet at Target’s dollar section the other night, she has been on a roll!

sweet potato fries made from fresh pulled potatoes our neighbor gave yesterday. Delicious!

taught my two oldest how to play ‘slap jack’ the other day…oh, the memories i have of that game as a child! quite amusing to watch them play together in this game of simplicity.

an arrangement i gave away…i adored this little guy, and yet, the person i gave him to i knew would love him more. it made my day to do this.

‘Woody’. he’s a great character in my little boys eyes, and this spring, when his daddy found this costume for $1 at a yard sale, somebody was super happy. he wears this OFTEN!

front porch afternoons, small town life…

love it!

happy thursday to you, my friends!

  1. Oh, this was SO very interesting. Glad that you chose to do this!  And, um, you do not like peanut butter??? That is just so sad! ;–)  But it was really fun to just learn more about you and your preferences and thoughts about things.  You are quite interesting! Those fresh sweet potatoe fries look so incredibily yummy. I have been wanting to make some!  But haven’t yet.

  2. love hearing more tidbits about your life~ i’m w/ you on favorite food. though it’s a toss up between cheese and/ or potatoes. :)and you’ve every right to brag. her letters look awesome for only being FOUR! and what a super cute Woody you’ve got there.. way cuter than the real one. 🙂 :)happy thursday friend.

  3. oh my goodness Rachel. this post was full of so much goodness i don’t even know where to start! first of all that butterfly you guys raised is absolutely stunning. wow..made my mouth drop open. and your kids are getting sooo big, so excited to see your little miss starting on her letters with the desire so strong to learn and the woody outfit on your littlest man made me smile sooo big ;).the answers to your questions had me ohhing and ahhing…so let’s see if i can remember my responses ;)i have heard such good things about the movie Fireproof, haven’t watched it yet. i love that your husband has an opportunity to share with others about your marriage, the Lord and the movie!      //I am intrigued by you perhaps choosing Ontario as your destination for a move…do you have family here?!? i would love for you to live in Ontario…though i’m sure it would be hard with your family spread all over. i know this was a what if question…but i’m sure it would be my pleasure to share a province with you ;).     // i LOVE cheese also. its funny cause i eat it every so often and then there are days when i have some and i just can’t get enough of it…like its the best new invention in the world. when i was in France we had some of the rustic cheese and they taught me that the stinkier the cheese the more personality it has…its been quite an adventure in tasting!     //i also enjoy Red Lobster, we used to go alot but it has become quite pricey here so its a rare treat. last time i went i had crabs legs and had quite the time cracking and getting them out…only at the end of my meal did the lady say that for 2$ more they would have done all that work for me :0…a lesson for next time!    //i shall have to try vanilla with honey on it…that sounds yummy.      // the trip to Aruba sounds like such a gift from God…how wonderful that you were able to win the trip, have enough points to pay for the flights and spend very little of your own money on the costs. sounds like it was a wonderful break for you too and i can imagine also very romantic (and warm!). I also went and checked out Kelle’s website on your recommend! (super excited to have a read of what she’s got to say!…i love this blogging world, so many amazing women to read about their journey’s, stories, inspiration, God moments…i LOVE it!)thanks for sharing these moments! i really loved reading this (as evidenced by my epistle of a response i’m sure!)

  4. i am intrigued by the fact that you’d like to move to Nebraska such a random interesting choicewow, your daughter does do good for age 4! love the pics too. happy day to you

  5. i like reading these survey sort of things – i’ve got to say though when i got to your favorite face cream question i totally read it wrong & thought it was asking your favorite ice cream & i’m like what! clinique?!! that is not ice cream! face cream, it said face cream & then it all made sence : ) great pictures & the sweet potato fries …. ahhh.

  6. I went through a kick that lasted several years of “honey mustard on the side”…funny I just realized that I rarely eat it anymore. And just for the record liver and peanut butter shouldn’t be in the same category;)Fun post! have a great week~Holly

  7. YUMMMMMMM honey on top of vanilla ice cream…never had that but will!!! pics are beautiful  and if you did like peanut butter toasted bread with peanut butter and honey is pretty amazing too!

  8. 8. you don’t like peanut butter??? girlfriend, you are missing OUT! :)20. VS fragrances… mmmmmm. i’m with you!32, 34 – yes yes!43. you WON a vacation to Aruba? omw. how amazing! And little Woody sure is adorable… But everytime I hear the name I think, “What the ??? WHY would someone name the character Woody?!!” 🙂

  9. There is SO much I want to reply to in this post, I don’t know where to start! No, that is not true…I DO know..and that is to say that the person who received that arrangement carried by that little vintage drummer was BEYOND thrilled to receive it and it has since found a coveted space on top of my upper kitchen cabinets, right next to the steel vintage coffee/sugar/flower containers!!! I cannot tell you how much it made my day…and, as you will recall me telling, literally made my dreams come true!! 🙂 THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! And had you only written this post today, you could have answered question one with an honest “Five o’clock AM, thank you very much.”  (I was showered by 6, which is a far cry better from noon).
